BC Green Business Terms & Conditions
Definitions

Member – refers to a business engaging in the services offered by Synergy Foundation under the BC Green Business program.

Program – refers to the BC Green Business certification program which is managed and owned by the Synergy Foundation, a BC registered non-profit society.

General Eligibility
  • Registered business, not-for-profit society or charity organization. If you are a franchise, brand, division or subsidiary, the local manager must submit the application.
  • Be located in BC. If your organization has multiple locations, each would have to undergo the certification process individually
Reasons For Ineligibility
  • If a business operates in any of the following industries: weapons, gas/oil/coal, or manufacturing of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or plastics
  • If your business is known to have a poor record in any of the following areas: product integrity, worker/labour abuse, environmental responsibility
  • Home based business without significant separate business operations (mixed used facility with residential)
  • Any other reason at the sole discretion of the Synergy Foundation staff and Board of Directors
Vancity Credit Union (Vancity) Member Discount Eligibility
  • 30% discount applies to the first year of certification.
  • Members of Vancity will self-identify during registration.
  • BC Green Business may disclose memberinformation to Vancity. Vancity will collect, use, disclose and retain that information in accordance with their privacy code.
Access and use of personal information and protection of privacy

BC Green Business collects, uses and disclose personal information in accordance with provisions of the Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”).

By submitting the new member form, the Member consents to:

  • the disclosure of their personal information, as provided by the Member in any offer registration materials to BC Green Business for the purposes of administering the Program, evaluating the effectiveness of the Program and undertaking analysis and research to inform changes to existing programs.
  • being contacted by BC Green Business by phone, email, direct mail, or similar method for the purposes of administering, evaluating, and researching all elements of the Program any time up to two years after the end of the Program. You can opt out of receiving communications anytime by contacting BC Green Business and requesting to be unsubscribed.
  • being contacted by BC Green Business by phone, email, direct mail or similar method for the purposes of marketing current or future services any time up to two years after the end of the program. You can opt out of receiving communications anytime by contacting BC Green Business and requesting to be unsubscribed.
Agreement for Logo Use
  • Member granted the non-exclusive right to use BC Green Business decals in the following contexts: on website, in literature, in advertising, and for specific services.
  • Members agree not to use the logo, program name, or copyright symbols in any way to indicate that it has any ownership or control of BC Green Business or its brand.
  • Member further agrees not to use the logo, program name, or copyright symbols in any way that would harm, diminish, or impair the BC Green Business brand name or reputation.
  • Members may not edit logos or decals in any way.
  • This agreement does not allow members to sublicense BC Green Business’s trademark logos, program name, and/or copyright symbols.
  • This agreement does not constitute an acquisition of a source trademark.
  • BC Green Business may require Members to remove any and all references to its logo, name, and copyright symbols at any time, and may do so through email notification. In such an event, the member is obligated to remove all material no later than 7 days from the request date.
General Program Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all members of the BC Green Business program:

  • BC Green Business certifies a Member’s operations and does NOT certify specific products or specific services offered by the Member business.
  • Members must recertify annually unless certified as a ‘Green Leader’, in which case they are required to recertify once every two years.
  • Members qualify for the ‘Green Leader’ certification on their third consecutive year qualifying for ‘Green’ Level certification.
  • If a Member’s site visit is conducted after October 1 st they will receive the following year’s decals with their certification.
  • Certified members and their score will be added to the website directory upon certification.
  • If a business does not recertify, they will be removed from the directory within one year.
  • Synergy Foundation staff will determine the checklist best suited to assess the Member.
  • Synergy Foundation will update their checklists on a regular interval to be current with best practice
