The Natural Hair Salon began with a handful of employees in the original space at 618 View Street in downtown Victoria. Philip Ferreira began taking his clients amidst the drywall and chaos of their build out. The Natural Hair Salon opened in the spring of 2018. In 2020, they broke down a wall to extend into next door and doubled in size and then expanded to a Cook Street Village location in March 2022. Starting with a husband-and-wife team, they are now proud to be 30 plus strong.

Their sustainability journey began on day one with both salons. They used as much of the original space, recycled and repurposed materials to make their build outs environmentally friendly. They worked with BC Green Business to audit and improve the salon inside and out every year. From how staff commutes to work, to the products prevented from going into the landfill (thank you Green Circle Salons), The Natural is working to get to zero waste. They feel supported by BC Green Business, from advice to actual products they need to save energy.

The Natural’s annual initiatives to support our community include free PPE recycling, Beauty Day with Our Place, a toy drive with Santas Anonymous, a Food Drive with The Good Food Box and sponsoring Dance Victoria.
